Where was Vermeer born? Where did he find his inspiration and create his world-renowned paintings? As you walk around Delft’s city centre, you’ll come across several ‘Vermeer cubes’. These cubes are part of the Vermeer Walking Tour; you can buy a map of this route at both the Tourist Information Centre and the Vermeer Centrum Delft.

On discovery

Follow the route to visit all of the locations that played a significant role in Vermeer’s life, like the house where he was born, his own family home, and the spot where he painted The Little Street. There are six Vermeer cubes in total, each telling you more about the life and work of the painter. For example, you will learn more about the backdrop of his famous paintings such as The Little Street and View of Delft. A real trail of discovery!
