When you walk through the atrium of the new station, you can see that Delft is not only a city with a rich history, but also the city of modern technology and innovation. If you look up at the ceiling, you see a map of the city from 1877 unfold on the arched panels.

The columns and walls are decorated with ceramic tile fragments in a contemporary take on the world-famous Delft Blue style. The layout of the building is designed so that when you walk through the atrium and look outside, the city and the old station appear in front of you like a modern version of Johannes Vermeer's painting ‘View of Delft’.
