Since 2010, the atmospheric Sint Agathaplein has been home to three, striking porcelain lampposts that stand between the old chestnut trees with paintings by Wendy Steenks and Chinese artist Zhang Ling Yun. Traditional Chinese and Dutch motifs are combined with contemporary forms. What is unique is that the porcelain lampposts were made in the Chinese ceramics city of Jingdezhen, a sister city of Delft and the cradle of Chinese porcelain from which Delft blue originated. The modern objects form a beautiful contrast with the centuries-old buildings, which include Museum Prinsenhof Delft.
