DISCOVER THE PEARL OF DELFT
Discover the special house of Lambert van Meerten. This successful industrialist was an enthusiastic collector of old building fragments, furniture and Delft pottery. His collection grew to such an extent that he had a house built especially for it.
Huis Van Meerten is a nineteenth-century house with a seventeenth-century appearance. Beautiful building fragments have been incorporated everywhere in the interior: consoles, carvings, bedsteads, tile panels and fireplaces. Behind the impressive natural stone facade, a classic 'Old Dutch' interior unfolds with state-of-the-art facilities such as underfloor heating, gas light and electricity.
A visit to Huis van Meerten at Oude Delft 199 feels like a visit to Lambert and his sister Dina. So feel free to take a seat behind Lambert's desk and peek into his secret safe. Or drink a cup of tea in Dina's cozy room and add a few stitches to her embroidery. Come by and feel especially at home.
Huis Van Meerten by Hendrick de Keyser is open on Wednesday from 1 pm to 5 pm and from Friday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.
